Hofstra Falls To Stony Brook

Hempstead, NY - Ryan Farr had a goal and two assists and Nelson Reynoso added a goal and an assist as Stony Brook defeated Hofstra, 3-0, Saturday night in a CAA game at Captains Field.

Hofstra saw its three-game winning streak come to an end and moved to 7-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the CAA. Stony Brook is 5-1-5 overall and 2-1-2 in league play, and won for the third consecutive outing.  

The teams played a scoreless first half, though Hofstra held a 6-3 edge in shots and had the only shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes. Stony Brook would break through at 59:12 when Reynoso slid a pass in front from Farr, who was just inside the end line, past Hofstra keeper Milo Risenhoover for his first goal of the season. The Seawolves doubled the lead at 65:57 when Alex Fleury notched his fourth of the season from Farr and Reynoso. Less than two minutes later, Farr scored his sixth of the season on a penalty kick at 67:37 to close the scoring.

Seawolves keeper Heidar Hermannsson had four saves in the contest. Risenhoover finished with one save. 

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday when it takes on Princeton at Captains Field with a 7 p.m. start time.

-Freshman Ryner Boone made his first career start
-Hofstra had a 13-10 shot advantage.
-Stony Brook had a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
