Hempstead, NY – The powerful duo of
Beatriz Braga and
Constanza Perez Sain combined for 33 of 59 the Hofstra volleyball team's kills as the Pride won three consecutive sets to secure a 3-1 CAA win over Stony Brook from Prichard Gymnasium.
Hofstra improves to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in CAA play with its fifth consecutive win of the season. Meanwhile, Stony Brook falls to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in conference competition. The set scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-17.
After dropping the first set against the Seawolves and facing a 6-5 deficit in the second set, Hofstra rallied for six of the next seven points to take an 11-7 edge over the hosts. The Pride held off a late Stony Brook rally before claiming the final point to take set two and even the match at 1-1. The Pride took set three despite Stony Brook outhitting Hofstra, .214-.186, but Hofstra dominated the fourth and final set with 15 kills and a .364 hitting percentage, compared to Stony Brook's 12 kills and .105 hitting percentage, to secure the CAA win.
Braga finished the contest with a team-high 18 kills and 17 digs, and Perez Sain recorded 15 kills.
Ellie Pamatat led all players with 31 assists in the win, and
Sonja Rundcrantz chipped in with 20 assists and 10 digs.
Ella Sanders was the top hitter for Stony Brook with 21 kills and led the Seawolves with 15 digs.
Hofstra returns to the Physical Education Center court with a pair of home contests against Campbell, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. on FloCollege.
NOTES:
-Hofstra is now 17-4 all-time against Stony Brook. This is the Pride's fifth consecutive win over the Seawolves.
-This is the first time since 2022 that Hofstra has started 4-0 in CAA play.
-This is the sixth time this season that Braga led Hofstra in kills, and it is her ninth time in 2026 reaching double figures.
