Hoey, Staszewski Score In 2-0 Hofstra Win

Hempstead, NY - Jordan Hoey and Patrick Staszewski scored second half goals as Hofstra picked up a 2-0 victory over Binghamton Saturday evening at Captains Field. The goals were the first of their collegiate careers.

Hofstra moved to 5-1-2 overall with the win, while Binghamton dipped to 1-3-3.

Following a scoreless first half that saw Binghamton hold a 5-4 shot advantage, Hofstra finally broke through in the 69th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The play started with a long throw into the box by James York. The ball was flicked on by Sean Keane and Hoey struck it out of the air with his right foot and sent it past Bearcats keeper Natan Jemaneh Admassu. Hofstra doubled the lead in the 86th minute as Lewis Johnson sent in a pass from just outside the 18-yard box that Staszewski headed in for the 2-0 lead.
