Hofstra And Stony Brook Battle To A Draw In CAA Opener

Stony Brook, NY - Bastian Carlman scored his third goal of the season, but Stony Brook scored the equalizer late in the second half as the 13th-ranked Pride and Seawolves battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in the Coastal Athletic Association opener at LaValle Stadium.

The tie moved the Pride's record to 2-0-1 on the season overall and 0-0-1 in league play, while the Seawolves went to 0-0-3 overall and 0-0-2 in the CAA.

Following a scoreless first half that featured 12 shots but just one on goal (by Stony Brook), the Pride got on the board 15 minutes into the second half when Henri Poll slid a pass in front to Carlman and the junior forward sent a right-footed shot past Heidar Hermannsson.

Stony Brook tied the score off a set piece at 78:23. The Seawolves sent a corner kick past the far post. A Stony Brook player headed it back in front where Finlay Oliver had a header that was saved by Hofstra keeper Milo Risenhoover. However, Sebastian Drummond was able to send the rebound in to tie the score.

Hofstra moves on to take St. John's in its next game, Tuesday night in Queens.
