No. 20 Hofstra Blanks American In Home Opener

Hempstead, NY - Bastian Carlman and Sean Keane scored first-half goals and Milo Risenhoover made three saves to lead No. 20 Hofstra to a 2-0 victory over American Sunday night at Captains Field. The victory came in the Pride's home opener. 

The Pride moved to 2-0 on the young season, while the Eagles slipped to 0-1-1. 

Carlman notched his second goal of the season off an assist from Keane just 6:55 into the contest. Keane played a ball from just inside midfield to Carlman and the junior slid a left-footed shot past American keeper Evan Tubbs. Keane picked up his second goal of the season at the 37:00 mark, heading in a cross from Ben Schulz

Both teams had chances in the second half as each team put two shots on target that were saved by Risenhoover and Tubbs. 

Hofstra returns to action Saturday night when it opens CAA play at Stony Brook. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:31 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra moved to 4-10-1 all-time against American.
-The Pride held a 9-6 advantage in shots.
-Both teams took four corner kicks.
-The Pride is 2-0 for the first time since 2021.
-Schulz's assist was the first of his career.
