Piscataway, NJ - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team got hat tricks from
Trevor Natalie and
Gus Langtry but it wasn't enough as #14 Rutgers broke open a tie game at halftime and would eventually capture an 11-8 win over the Pride on Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium.
The hat trick was Natalie's third this season and 10th of his career, while Langtry tallied the second of his freshman campaign.
Hofstra slipped to 1-4 with the loss, while Rutgers improved to 5-1 with the victory.
Shea Kennedy made nine saves in net for Hofstra.
Drew Bogardus had three ground balls and a goal for the Pride, while
Blake Cooling had five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Colin Kurdyla had four points on two goals and two assists for Rutgers, while Greyson Vorgang added a pair of goals. Stoller made 12 saves for the Scarlet Knights.
Hofstra is back in action next Saturday, March 7 when it hosts UMBC.
NOTES
- Today was the 32nd all-time meeting between Hofstra and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 18-14.
- The ground ball total was a season-high for Cooling.
