Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Wrestling Coach Jamie Franco today announced that Ryan Arbeit, Jake Slotnick, Teague Strobel, and Will Conlon have been elected team captains for the 2026-27 season.

"This year, our captains were selected by the people who know them best — their teammates," said Coach Franco. "These four young men earned the trust and respect of their peers through their commitment to Hofstra wrestling, their dedication to their teammates, and the pride they take in representing Hofstra University. Being voted captain by your teammates is a tremendous honor, and I'm excited to see these four lead our program this season."

Arbeit, a repeat captain, is in his fourth season at Hofstra. The Wantagh, New York native and 133-pounder missed last season due to injury.

"Ryan leads by example in everything he does, from his training and work ethic to the way he carries himself every day," said Franco. "He sets the standard for what we expect from our student-athletes."

Slotnick, a 165-pounder, is in his fourth season with the Pride and repeats as a team captain. He posted an 18-15 overall record last season and was 9-8 in duals. Slotnick placed fifth at the Princeton Open and eighth at the Keystone Classic.

"Jake is the guy everyone in our room tries to match when it comes to intensity," said Franco. "Over the past year, he's made tremendous strides as a leader, learning how to bring his teammates along with him and push everyone around him to get better."

Strobel, a junior 125-pounder, won 13 matches last season including seven duals. He also led the team with six tech fall victories. Strobel is a first-time team captain.

"Teague earned this opportunity through the way he carries himself every day," said Franco. "His commitment to training, consistency, and willingness to support his teammates have earned him the respect of our team."

Conlon is in his fourth season with the Pride and is a first-time team captain. He won 19 matches at 197 pounds last season, placing sixth at the EIWA Championships and fifth at the Keystone Classic.

"Will has earned the respect of his teammates through his work ethic, commitment to the program, and willingness to put the team first," said Franco. "We're excited to see him continue to grow in this leadership role."

Hofstra begins the 2026-27 season Saturday, October 31 at 2 p.m. versus Sacred Heart in the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
