Bethlehem, PA - Hofstra dropped a pair of dual matches Saturday during Wranglemania presented by Journeymen Wrestling at Liberty High School. The Pride fell to No. 21 Illinois (45-0) and Appalachian State (33-6).

Hofstra dropped to 1-2 on the season, while Illinois and Appalachian State are each 1-0.

In the opening match, the Fighting Illini posted seven tech falls, two decisions, and one major decision on their way to victory. Illinois sent six nationally ranked wrestlers to the mat against the Pride, with each picking up a tech fall.

Against Appalachian State, the Mountaineers opened up a 10-0 lead before the Pride got on the board courtesy of a 10-3 decision by 32nd ranked Noah Tapia over Brayden Fahrbach at 149 pounds. Jake Slotnick added an 8-2 decision over Dawson Boyd to make the match score, 14-6. But App State closed with four consecutive bonus point wins to seal the win.
