Hempstead, NY - Hofstra scored five bonus point victories, including three wins by fall, in a 35-7 EIWA victory over Sacred Heart Saturday at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The bout was the season opener for both teams.

The Pioneers took the first match of the afternoon as Brnedan Gilchrist scored a major decision over Danny Church at 285 pounds. The Pride would turn the 4-0 deficit into a 27-4 lead, rattling off six consecutive victories with Teague Strobel getting things going with a win by fall over Austin Zimmerman at 125 pounds. Gauge Shipp (133) and Laudan Henry (141) followed with decisions, while Noah Tapia (149) and Zach Reilley (157) won by fall. Jake Slotnick closed the run with a decision over AJ Falcone at 165 pounds. 

Sacred Heart's Jayden D'Ambrosio stopped the Pride run with a decision at 174 before the Pride's Jaden Simpson made an impressive collegiate debut with a 16-3 major decision over Eric Wolf and Will Conlon picked up a 11-2 major over Henry Downing to close out the victory. 

Hofstra returns to action next weekend with a pair of Journeymen Wrestling events in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Pride compete in Wranglemania on Saturday with duals against Appalachian State and Illinois, and then take part in the Collegiate Classic on Sunday.
