Seven Straight For The Pride, Hofstra Handles Towson On The Road

Towson, MD - Cruz Davis was spectacular with 32 points and six rebounds and the Hofstra men's basketball team won its seventh consecutive game with a 78-67 road win over Towson on Thursday afternoon at SECU Arena. The win streak is the longest since a 12-game streak in 2022-23 and the 23rd-longest in program history.

Davis has scored in double figures in all 16 games this season, has 20 or more points in five straight games, and today marked his second 30-point game of the season (36 at Pitt).

The Pride moved to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in CAA play with the win. Towson slipped to 8-9 and 0-4 in the league. It was also Hofstra's fourth consecutive road win.

Preston Edmead was tremendous on both ends of the court and finished with 18 points, while German Plotnikov added 17 for the Pride.

A pair of free throws early on from Davis put Hofstra in front 10-6, but the two teams battled back and forth much of the first half until the Pride put together a game-changing run. With Towson leading 27-26 with under four minutes left before halftime, Plotnikov drained a pivotal three-pointer that put the Pride in front and kick-started an 11-0 that made it 37-27 with 1:22 left in the opening stanza. Davis keyed the run with a pair of three-pointers.

The lead was nine at the intermission and a free throw from Joshua DeCady followed by a bucket from Plotnikov in the opening two minutes of the second half made it 42-30 in favor of the Pride. The Tigers did close the gap to seven, but the Pride was able to expand the lead up 17, 59-42, with 10:03 remaining following another basket from Plotnikov. Hofstra held off Towson the rest of the game before settling in for the double-digit victory.

Silas Sunday had nine rebounds for Hofstra, while Victory Onuetu added seven rebounds.

Tyler Tejada led Towson with 22 points, while Tyler Coleman added 16. Hofstra held Dylan Williamson to only four points on 2-19 shooting from the field.

Hofstra is back at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Saturday when it hosts Monmouth at 2 p.m. For ticket information, visit HofstraTickets.com. In recognition of the seven-game win streak, use code "SEVEN" for $7 tickets to Saturday's game.
