The Pride led CAA preseason favorites Charleston 53-52 with 5:31 left in the fourth quarter before a 20-2 run lifted the Cougars to a 72-55 win over Hofstra, putting the Pride's record at 2-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference to open CAA play. Ema Karim played exceptionally against the Cougars, shooting 6-9 – including a career-high 5-8 performance from three-point range – to score a personal-best 17 points, while Chloe Sterling finished the game with 10 points and four assists, and Sandra Magolico led all players with 14 rebounds.

Predicted to finish 10th in the CAA Preseason Poll, UNCW opened its conference schedule with a 69-67 win over Northeastern on Friday, putting the Seahawks at 5-7 overall and 1-0 in league play. Rori Cox and Kylah Silver lead the team in scoring with 12.8 and 12.3 points per game, respectively, while Silver averages a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game, and Cox averages 3.1 assists per contest.
