Hempstead, NY – After helping the Hofstra field hockey team to a pair of wins over the weekend, Gwenn van Dijk has been named the Co-Rookie of the Week by the Coastal Athletic Association, in an announcement by the conference Monday afternoon. van Dijk shares the award with Drexel's Fleur Hamers.
 
A freshman midfielder from Almere, The Netherlands, van Dijk recorded three points on a goal and an assist as the Pride earned wins over Rider and Bryant to improve to 3-1 early in the season. Against Rider, van Dijk assisted on Teresa Karoff's second quarter goal as Hofstra earned a 3-2 shootout win over the Broncs, and she scored the game-winning goal in double overtime of Hofstra's 2-1 win against the Bulldogs.
 
Hofstra is back in action this week with a road game against Yale on Friday, September 12, at 5 p.m. before hosting Villanova at noon on Sunday, September 14.
