Pride Pushes Past Rider to Stay Perfect at 3-0

West Point, NY - The Hofstra volleyball placed four players in double figures in kills, led by Beatriz Braga's 13, to lead the Pride to a four-set win over Rider on Saturday morning at Gillis Field House in play at the Black Knight Invitational. 

Joining Braga in double figures was Izadora Stedile (12), Clara Bal (10), and Constanza Perez Sain (10). Nil Kayaalp had a strong match for the Pride as she led the way with 18 digs, while also adding a career-high nine assists. Nina Jioshvili-Ravva had the first double-double of her career with 26 assists and 10 digs. 

After dropping the first set, Hofstra dominated the final three stanzas. The Pride won each set by at least 10 points, including a 14-point rout in the fourth and final set. Hofstra hit over .350 in the final three sets, including a match-high .565 in the fourth set. 

Ellie Pamatat added 17 assists and six digs for teh Pride, which also got nine kills and four blocks from Julia Amorim

Kiannisha Santiago had nine kills and 15 digs to lead Rider. 

Hofstra has one more match at the tournament as the Pride will face Binghamton at 6 p.m. The Pride and the Bearcats are quite familiar with each other as they played last weekend in Hofstra's season opener. 

NOTES
- Hofstra moved to 16-0 all-time against Rider. The meeting was the first since a 3-0 Pride sweep in the 1995 NCAA Play-In match that clinched Hofstra's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. 
- Kayaalp's previous career-high in assists was six against Delaware State on August 26, 2023. 
- Hofstra is 3-0 to start the season for the third consecutive year.
