Hempstead, NY – Fresh off a 2-0 shutout win over Sacred Heart this past Sunday, the Hofstra field hockey team looks to make it two consecutive wins from Cindy Lewis Stadium when the Pride welcomes Rider to campus on Friday, September 5, for a 4 p.m. clash. The game will air on FloCollege with live statistics available as well.
Hofstra is coming off a 1-1 week to open the 2025 season, falling 3-2 to #18 UAlbany on Friday before blanking the Pioneers on Sunday.
Teresa Karoff tallied a pair of penalty stroke goals, while
Kelly Levengood tallied her first goal of the season against the Great Danes, and
Gwenn van Dijk put herself on the scoresheet against Sacred Heart.
Luci Hollister started both games between the posts and recorded seven saves, a .700 save percentage, and a GAA of 1.50 to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
Rider began its season with a 3-0 win on the road over Colgate. Picked third in the NEC Preseason Poll, Ang Borisow, Semra Said, and Mackenzie Smith all have one goal each for the Broncs. Hofstra assistant coach
Alicia Govannicci was Rider's head coach for the past two seasons before joining the Pride prior to the 2025 season.
Hofstra is 15-7 all-time against Rider, but the Broncs have won the last five of the last six contests against the Pride.
Following Friday's game against Rider, Hofstra will hit the road to face Bryant on Sunday, September 7, at noon.
