Hempstead, NY - Izadora Stedile had match-highs of 18 kills and 16 digs to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a dominant three-set sweep of UNCW on Friday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Building. The win came in the Pride's CAA opener and extended Hofstra's perfect record to 8-0 this season. 

Constanza Perez Sain added 10 kills for the Pride, which also got 37 assists, five service aces, five digs, and two kills from Nina Jioshvili-Ravva. 

The 8-0 start this year marks the fourth team in program history to begin a season with eight consecutive wins. UNCW falls to 1-9 and 0-1 in league play with the loss. 

Hofstra hit a robust .318 in the match, including .485 in the second set. The first set saw the Pride trail 11-8 before using an incredible 17-3 run to capture the stanza by 11 points. 

Clara Bal added eight kills in the match, while Julia Amorim had a match-high seven blocks for the Pride. Nil Kayaalp posted 10 digs in the contest. 

Hannah Forbes posted seven kills for UNCW, while Lauren Young had 18 assists and seven digs. 

The Pride and the Seahawks will finish the two-match series on Saturday at 3 p.m. 

NOTES
- Hofstra improved to 35-7 all-time against UNCW. The Pride has won 10 straight against the Seahawks. 
- Stedile led Hofstra in kills for the third time this season and reached double figures in a match for the seventh time. 
- Kayaalp posted double figures in digs for the seventh time this year. 
- Stedile's double-double was her fourth this season.
