Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Head Women's Basketball Coach
Danielle Santos Atkinson announced today the addition of
Ryan Starr to the Hofstra women's basketball coaching staff as the coordinator of video and player development for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
"I'm excited to welcome Ryan to our staff," says Santos-Atkinson, who is entering her seventh season at the helm of the Pride women's basketball program. "He brings great energy, a strong work ethic, and a clear passion of the game with him into this role. His experience as a student-athlete, as well as his dedication to coaching and player development, will make him a valuable asset to our program this coming season."
"I'm incredibly excited and honored to join the Hofstra family," says Starr. "I'm grateful to Coach Santos Atkinson and Coach White for the opportunity to contribute to a program with such a strong tradition and vision. I'm looking forward to working with this talented staff and helping our student-athletes grow, both on and off the court."
Starr comes to Hofstra after a one-season stint as an assistant for the men's basketball team at Kenyon College. In his lone season on the bench at Kenyon, Starr helped coach two student-athletes to All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, including NCAC Newcomer of the Year winner Marius Mazeika. In addition to his time with the men's basketball team, he also served assistant with the Kenyon volleyball team in 2024.
Starr graduated from Neumann University in May 2023. He was a two-season member of the Knights men's basketball team, and he finished with the seventh-most career assists (323) in program history. Additionally, his 198 assists as a senior in 2022-23 led all of Division III and broke the Neumann men's basketball single-season record. He also played professionally in Israel.
