Hempstead, NY – The Coastal Athletic Association announced its all-conference and major award winners Tuesday afternoon, and
Alanna Morse and
Carley Ernst represent the Hofstra softball team on the All-CAA and All-Rookie teams.
Morse was selected to the All-CAA Second Team, and Ernst was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team. This is Morse's second conference honor, after she was named to the All-Rookie Team her freshman season in 2023.
In her junior season at Hofstra, Morse finished the regular season with career-highs in batting average (.348), RBIs (26), slugging percentage (.481), on-base percentage (.381), and home runs (2), while her 45 hits leads the team and ranks 24th in the CAA. Nine of those hits were for doubles, and she tallied a triple against Baylor on February 15. In conference action, Morse hit .361 with 30 hits and 16 RBIs, along with nine doubles, a .458 slugging percentage, and an on-base percentage of .382. She finished the regular season with 12 multi-hit games – tied for the team lead – with nine of those coming in CAA games, and she finished with seven multi-RBI games, including a three-RBI game against Saint Peter's that ties her single-game career-high. In defense, Morse had a .954 fielding percentage from the shortstop position.
In her first season of collegiate softball, Ernst made 34 appearances inside the pitcher's circle with 21 starts, and she earned seven wins, five saves, 79 strikeouts, and a 3.91 ERA in 121.2 innings pitched. Ernst's five saves ranks her tied for the CAA lead and 10th in the nation, while her 121.2 innings pitched places her seventh in the conference, and she is ranked ninth in the CAA for strikeouts. Ernst shined the brightest against conference opponents, recording an ERA of 1.78 in CAA games with five wins, three saves, 56 strikeouts, and a .239 opposing batting average in 78.2 innings and 20 appearances. Of her four complete game wins, she held Drexel, Stony Brook, and Monmouth scoreless. Ernst collected CAA Rookie of the Week honors on April 7 and against on April 28.
Hofstra begins its postseason on Wednesday, May 7, at 2:30 p.m. against Charleston at the 2025 CAA Championship in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
