Jenks Homers In Hofstra Loss At Charleston

Mt. Pleasant, SC - Trent Jenks homered and was one of five Hofstra players with two hits, but Charleston used a seven-run seventh inning to erase a 3-1 deficit and went on to post an 11-4 victory Thursday in the opening game of a Coastal Athletic Association series at Patriots Point.

The Cougars scored a run in the first as Dariyan Pendergrass led off with a single, stole second and third, and came in on a single from Will Baumhofer. The Pride responded with three runs in the fifth. Jenks and Nick Biddle singled, and Dylan Palmer hit an opposite field RBI single to drive in one. Michael Brown drove in a run on an error, and with the bases loaded, Tyler Castrataro drove in a run on a fielder's choice.

Jenks homered to left field in the eighth to make it an 8-4 game. The Cougars would add three more runs in the bottom of the frame to close the scoring. Penfield had a two-run home run, while Tyler Sorrentino doubled in the final run.
