Bauer And Brown Lift Pride To Senior Day Win, Sweep Of Towson

Hempstead, NY - For the third consecutive game, Hofstra received a quality start as Jackson Bauer scattered four hits and three runs over 8 ⅓ innings in the Pride's 4-3 victory over Towson Sunday at University Field. The win gave Hofstra a three-game Coastal Athletic Association sweep of the Tigers. Michael Brown provided the biggest hit of the day as his eighth-inning single scored a pair and broke a 2-2 tie.

Hofstra moved to 17-34 on the season and 7-17 in the CAA with the win. Towson slipped to 19-34 overall and 9-15 in league play with the loss.

Towson scored a pair of runs in the top of the first on an RBI single from Max D'Alessandro and a steal of home by Brett Ahalt. Hofstra cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning as Michael Brown hustled out a double and came around on Luke Masiuk's double to the left field corner.

The Pride would tie the score in the fifth as Trent Jenks led off the inning with a double, went to third on an excellent sacrifice bunt from Dom Camera, and scored on a Nick Gallello ground out. Hofstra took the lead in the eighth as Gallello led off with a single after falling behind in the count, 0-2. Pinch runner Trenton Snyder stole second and went to third on an infield single from Dylan Palmer. Palmer stole second and both runners came home on Browns single to right field, his third hit of the day.

The Tigers scored an unearned run in the ninth as Josh Janove had a sacrifice fly after a Hofstra error prolonged the inning. But reliever Danny Kelleher pitched around trouble and left the tying run on third to record his first save of the season.

Bauer (3-6), who had seven strikeouts, picked up the win. Towson reliever Brett Seils (1-3) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in one-plus innings.

Hofstra closes out its home schedule Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game against St. John's.
