Butler, Ernst Nab CAA Weekly Awards

Hempstead, NY – After a stellar three-game series against Drexel, Anna Butler and Carley Ernst have received weekly honors from the Coastal Athletic Association, in an announcement from the conference office Monday afternoon.
 
Butler has been named the CAA Player of the Week, and Ernst collects CAA Rookie of the Week recognition. Butler and Ernst join Emma Falen as the three members of the Hofstra softball team to earn conference honors this season.
 
A first baseman from Seaford, New York, Butler recorded a .545 series average with six hits in 11 at-bats while driving in five RBIs on two multi-run home runs and a double, and she tallied a 1.182 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .585, and she crossed home for five runs. Butler opened the series with a 2-4 performance with a two-run homer in the first inning as the Pride won 3-1, and she followed this up with a 3-4 day at the dish with a double, two singles, and two runs as Hofstra won 4-0 to complete the doubleheader sweep. In the series finale on Saturday, Butler capped off a dominating day for the Pride with a three-run home run in the fifth inning in a 14-1 victory.
 
Ernst made three appearances in the circle for the Blue and Gold against the Dragons, and she didn't allow a single run while finishing with a 0.00 ERA, a save, a 1-0 mark, and eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings, holding opposing batters to a .216 average against her. Ernst pitched the final two outs and tallied a strikeout in a 3-1, and she followed this up with a complete game, shutout win, going all seven innings while recording a career-high seven strikeouts in a 4-0 win. In Saturday's 14-1 win to complete the sweep, Ernst pitched two innings of shutout relief and allowed just one hit.
 
The Pride is back at Bill Edwards Stadium for seven consecutive home games, beginning on Wednesday, April 9, against Saint Peter's at 5 p.m.
