Hofstra Drops Road Game At Seton Hall

South Orange, NJ - Luke Masiuk has a pair of hits, while CJ Griggs and Dom Camera had RBIs in Hofstra's 13-2 loss at Seton Hall Wednesday at Sheppard Stadium. Gabe Cavazzoni and Marco Ali each had three RBIs to lead Seton Hall.

Hofstra dipped to 14-31 with the loss, while the Pirates improved to 19-26 on the season with the win.

Seton Hall scored twice in the second inning and six times in the third to build an 8-0 lead. Ali had an RBI double in the second and Cavazzoni followed with an RBI triple. The Pirates would load the bases in the third with no outs. Nick Ferri drove in a run with a sacrifice fly followed by a run scoring single from Jimmy Brennan.  After loading the bases again, Cavazzoni drove in another run with a walk. Another run scored on a wild pitch and Aiden Robbins capped the scoring with a two-run single.

Hofstra scored twice in the top of the fourth as Masiuk singled and stole second and would later score on Camera's grounder that was misplayed for an error. Griggs would follow with a double that sent Camera home. That would be all the scoring the Pride would muster and the Pirates tacked on five more runs in the sixth with Ali tripling in a pair and Cavazzoni driving in a run with a groundout.

Brayden Gregg (2-4) started for the Pride and was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on two hits in two innings. Patrick Benn (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get the win for the Pirates.

Hofstra returns to action Friday when it hosts Elon in the start of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association series. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
