Hofstra Hosts Monmouth in Final Regular Season Series

Hempstead, NY – With a spot in the CAA Championship on the line, the Hofstra softball team will conclude its regular season with a three-game series against Monmouth.
 
The series against the Hawks begins at on Thursday, May 1, at 4 p.m., followed by a game on Friday, May 2, at 12 p.m., and the series will come to a conclusion on Saturday, May 3, at 12 p.m. Thursday's game will be held at Adlephi's Janet L. Ficke Field, while Bill Edwards Stadium will be the site for the games on Friday and Thursday. All games will be streamed on FloCollege, and there will be live statistics for all three games. Prior to the beginning of Saturday's game, the Hofstra softball program will honor departing seniors Anna Butler, Olivia Malinowski, Kellie Sandas, and Haley Venturini in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.
 
The Pride enters the final regular season series 17-26 overall and 12-12 in the CAA after winning a midweek non-conference game against St. John's and dropping two games in a three-game series against Stony Brook. Sitting one game ahead of UNCW and Towson at 11-13 each, Hofstra currently occupies the sixth and final spot of the CAA Championship.
 
Picked eighth in the CAA Preseason Poll, Monmouth is 11-38 overall and 7-17 in the conference following three losses to Delaware. Jayla Cadena is the team's leading hitter with 29, while Liv Smith leads the Hawks with a .311 batting average, and Giana Scotti paces the squad with 17 RBIs. Monmouth will face Rutgers on Tuesday, April 30, in non-conference action before facing the Pride.
 
Hofstra sports an all-time record of 5-3 against Monmouth. The Hawks won two games in a three-game series against the Pride from New Jersey in last season's series.
