Hempstead, NY – After a trio of exceptional outings from the pitcher's circle, Hofstra softball freshman Carley Ernst was named the Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Ernst was previously named the CAA Rookie of the Week on April 7 after her series performance against Drexel, where she went 1-0 with a save and a 0.00 ERA on eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
 
Ernst kicked off the week with a win against Big East-leading St. John's on Wednesday, striking out three batters without allowing a run in 5.1 innings of work against the Red Storm as the Pride picked up a 3-1 win. In her first appearance against Stony Brook on Saturday, Ernst was in complete control, allowing only three hits in seven innings for her second complete game shutout this season as Hofstra won 6-0, and she allowed only one earned run and tallied three strikeouts in five innings on Sunday against the Seawolves. In total, Ernst was 2-1 in three starts with 11 strikeouts and a 0.40 ERA in 17.1 innings from the circle.
 
Ernst and the Pride wrap up its regular season schedule with a three-game series against Monmouth from Bill Edwards Stadium, beginning on Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m.
