Hofstra Falls To Delaware In Series Finale

Newark, DE - Sean Lane homered for the second consecutive game, but Hofstra could not hold an early 3-0 lead in a 16-6 loss at Delaware Sunday in the finale of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association series at Bob Hannah Stadium. The win gave the Blue Hens a 2-1 series victory. 

Hofstra slipped to 14-30 overall and 4-14 in the CAA with the loss. Delaware upped its record to 24-18 overall and 10-8 in the CAA.

The Pride scored three times in the first with Luke Masiuk driving in a run with a single, a second run scoring on an error, and the third on Dom Camera's bases-loaded hit by pitch. 

The Blue Hens responded with three runs in the bottom of the second before Lane put the Pride back up by one in the third with a solo home run to left field. Delaware would take control with three more runs in the bottom of the third and six more in the fourth to take a 12-4 lead. Aaron Graeber and Andrew Amato had solo home runs in the third. Amato would add his second home run of the day in the fourth, a three-run shot that capped the scoring. 

Delaware added another four runs in the fifth to take a 12-run lead. Evan Bouldin had a two-run double and Amato added an RBI double. Hofstra would get a run in the sixth on an RBI single from Michael Craig and then added another in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to CJ Griggs

Tristan Nemjo (1-6) took the loss for the Pride, allowing six runs on six hits over three innings. Griggs had two hits for the Pride.

Andrew Callaway (3-1) picked up the win in relief, throwing four innings of one-hit, one-run ball. Amato finished the day 3-3 with five RBIs for the Blue Hens.  
 
Hofstra returns to action Wednesday at Seton Hall. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Notes:
-Nick Gallello picked up his first career hit, a single in the seventh.
-Michael Brown and Lane scored two runs each.
-Lane's home run was his eighth of the season. 
-John McCready threw a scoreless inning of relief.
