Pride Picks Up Road Win Over Hampton

Hampton, VA - Anthony Mollica had nine points on five goals and four assists to lead the Hofstra men's lacrosse team to a 27-4 win over Hampton on Saturday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium. 

The win coupled with other results within the conference clinched a berth in the CAA Championship for the Pride. 

Hofstra improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in CAA play with the win. Hampton dropped to 0-14 and 0-6 in the league. 

The Pride got off to a great start as they scored the first 16 goals of the game and never looked back in earning the win. 

Mollica's nine points are the 16th-most in a game in program history. Drew Bogardus had eight points on three goals and five assists, while John Madsen was third on the team in points with five on three goals and two assists. 

Cole Myers won 15-21 face-offs and had five ground balls, while Benjamin Niesman won 9-14 face-offs and had a game and career-high-tying seven ground balls. 

Shea Kennedy made 10 saves in net for the Pride. 

Sebastian West had a goal and an assist for Hampton, which got 16 saves from LJ Collinsworth. 

Hofstra will conclude the regular season next Saturday when it hosts Towson at 4 p.m. That game is part of a Hofstra lacrosse doubleheader as the Pride women's team will host Stony Brook at 7 p.m. For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com. The game will air on FloCollege.

- Hofstra is now 3-0 all-time against Hampton. 
- Kennedy reached double figures in saves for the eighth time this season. 
- Madsen notched the 20th hat trick of his career and his seventh this season. 
- The hat trick was Mollica's fourth this season and seventh of his career. 
- Trevor Natalie's hat trick was his sixth this season and also sixth of his career. 
- The hat trick for Bogardus was his fifth. 
- Joey DeYoung and Anthony Laber had the first hat tricks of their respective career.
