New Haven, CT -
Shea Kennedy continued his strong play with 16 saves, while
Anthony Mollica led the Pride offensively with three points on two goals and an assist in a 9-6 road loss to Yale on Tuesday evening at Reese Stadium.
Cole Myers won eight face-offs in the contest, including the 100th of his career.
It marked the seventh time this season that Kennedy has tallied at least 10 saves in a game.
Hofstra fell to 7-5 with the loss, while Yale improved to 5-5 with the victory.
Three straight goals by the Pride, spanning the first and second quarters turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead after an unassisted tally from
John Madsen with 8:30 left before halftime. Mollica would add his second of the game later in the quarter before Yale scored the final goal of the second stanza to send the teams into the break tied at four.
A goal from
Drew Bogardus put Hofstra back in front just over two minutes into the third quarter. Yale would score the next three goals and led the game 7-5 with 12:15 left in regulation. The Pride closed the gap to one just over a minute later as
Gerard Kane scored a man-up goal off an assist from Mollica to make it a 7-6 ballgame. That would be as close as Hofstra would get, though, as Yale scored the final two goals of the contest.
Ryan Kiernan tied his career-high with a game-high six ground balls.
Blake Cooling had three ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Pride, which also got a goal, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers from Madsen.
Leon Johnson led Yale with four points on three goals and an assist, while Chris Lyons added a trio of goals. Jared Paquette made 15 saves for the Bulldogs.
Hofstra is back in action on Saturday when the Pride travels to Hampton for an 11 a.m. contest - the start of the game has changed from 12 p.m. to 11 a.m.
That game will air on FloCollege.
