Hofstra Tripped Up At Northeastern In Series Finale

Brookline, MA - Dylan Palmer, Dom Camera, and Nick Biddle each had two hits, but Hofstra could not push a run across in a 4-0 loss to Northeastern Sunday at Friedman Diamond. Hofstra starter Tristan Nemjo pitched a complete game in the loss, which gave Northeastern a series sweep of the Pride.

Hofstra, which left seven runners on base, slipped to 12-24 overall and 3-9 in the Coastal Athletic Association. League-leading Northeastern is 25-9 overall and 10-2 in the CAA.

Matt Brinker opened the scoring for Northeastern with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. That was all the runs the Huskies would need, but they would add three more in the fourth inning with Carmelo Musacchia delivering an RBI single and Gregory Bozzo a sacrifice fly. Northeastern also scored a run on a wild pitch.

Jordan Gottesman (4-2) pitched seven shutout innings to get the win, allowing six hits with nine strikeouts. Nemjo (1-4) went the distance for the Pride, allowing four runs on four hits over eight innings.

Palmer and Camera each went 2-4, while Biddle was 2-3. Michael Brown and Michael Craig had the Pride's other two hits with Craig's a double.

Hofstra will be back in action Tuesday at St. John's. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Notes:
-The complete game was the first of Nemjo's career and the first of the season for the Pride.
-Palmer has a 19-game hitting streak.
-Camera has a six-game hitting streak.
