Pride Drops Home Contest To Dragons

Hempstead, NY - Trevor Natalie had four points on three goals and an assist, but it wasn't enough as Drexel defeated the Hofstra men's lacrosse team, 14-6, on Saturday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Hofstra dropped to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in CAA play with the loss. Drexel improved to 6-6 and 3-2 in league play.

Natalie ended an early three-goal spurt by the Dragons with his first tally of the game at the 2:42 mark of the first quarter. Trey Parkes would keep the Pride within striking distance in the second quarter with a goal at 12:09 that made it 5-2 but the Dragons would take a 9-3 lead into the break.

Drexel kept the pressure on in the second half, scoring the first three goals of the third quarter before Blake Cooling found the back of the net for the Pride. Madsen and Natalie would finish the scoring in the game with goals in the final six-plus minutes of the fourth quarter.

Hofstra got single goals from Madsen, Parkes, and Cooling. Madsen tallied a career-high six ground balls.

Max Semple had five goals for Drexel, which also got two goals from Witt Crawford and Gavin Kelly.

Hofstra is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Yale for its final non-conference game of the season. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Pride will return to conference play next weekend when it travels to Hampton on Saturday for a 12 p.m. game.
