Hofstra Heads To EIWA Championships

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team heads to Lehigh University for the 121st EIWA Championships, which get underway Friday at Lehigh's Stabler Arena. Wrestling gets underway at 10 a.m. with the championship first round and quarterfinals. Friday's Session II begins at 4 p.m. with the consolation first round, championship semifinals, and consolation quarterfinals. Wrestling concludes Saturday with the consolation semifinals and seventh-place matches at 10 a.m., the EIWA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 12 p.m., and the championship finals, third-place, and fifth-place matches beginning at 12:15 p.m.

A total of 22 automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, are up for grabs at the EIWA Championships, as well as the overall team title and individual championships, in the 120th edition of the competition.

Tickets are available online through the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office. The Championships will be streamed live on FloWrestling. Live brackets will be available at FloArena Thursday evening. Links for all are posted above and on the wrestling schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra will be sending Dylan Acevedo (125), Chase Liardi (133), Justin Hoyle (141), Noah Tapia (149), Jurius Clark (157), Kyle Mosher (165), Matthew Waddell (174), Ross McFarland (184), Nikolas Miller (197), and Danny Church (285). McFarland is ranked No. 33 by InterMat and No. 22 by FloWrestling headed into the Championships, while Mosher is ranked No. 29 by Flo. In the EIWA Rankings on Feb. 25, Mosher is No. 5 at 165, while McFarland is No. 2 at 184. 

Hoyles is a two-time place-winner at the EIWA Championships, having placed eighth in 2022 and seventh in 2023. McFarland is also a two-time EIWA place-winner, having placed seventh in 2021 and 2023. Clark went 3-2 and placed seventh in his first EIWA Championships appearance last season. Mosher made two previous appearances at the EIWAs while at Columbia. Acevedo, Liardi, Tapia, and Miller are making their second EIWA appearances, while Waddell and Church are competing at the conference tournament for the first time.
