Hempstead, NY -
Shea Kennedy had a career-high 17 saves and the Pride got goals from eight different players as the Hofstra men's lacrosse team dominated Delaware to the tune of a 17-10 win over the Blue Hens on Saturday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium. The win was Hofstra's third straight. It is the Pride's longest win streak since a four-game win streak from February 20 to March 26, 2021.
Anthony Mollica had a career-high seven points on two goals and a career-high five assists to lead the offensive explosion, while
Drew Bogardus had five points on four goals and an assist for the Pride.
Hofstra improved to 7-2 and 3-0 in CAA play with the win. Delaware dropped to 5-4 and 1-2 in league play with the loss. The 17 goals are the most Hofstra has scored against Delaware since a 17-5 win over the Blue Hens on April 13, 2002.
It didn't take long for Hofstra to gain some momentum in the game as the Pride won the opening face-off and
John Madsen would score his first of the game just eight seconds into the contest. It was all Hofstra in the first quarter as the Pride scored four times with Bogardus scoring a man-up goal in the final minute to make it 4-0 after 15 minutes of play. The two teams combined for just three goals in the second quarter, with Hofstra tallying two, to lead 6-1 at the break.
A highly-entertaining third quarter saw the teams combine for 13 goals, with Hofstra accounting for seven of them, to expand the lead to seven goals with 15 minutes left. The Pride did score the first four goals of the second half, including a pair from Bogardus, to lead 10-1 at one point.
Hofstra would never be seriously challenged in the final stanza and tallied three of the final four goals in the game to account for the final margin of victory.
Madsen finished with four points on three goals and one assist for Hofstra, while
Trey Parkes,
Chris Barry, and
Joey DeYoung all had two goals for the Pride. The two goals were the first in the career for Barry.
Benjamin Niesman won 10 face-offs for Hofstra and had a career-high seven ground balls.
Ryan Kiernan had two assists, the first points of his career, and added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Bennett Parmer and Hank D'Ambrogi each had four points on two goals and two assists for Delaware, which also got two goals from Brendan Powers.
Hofstra is back in action next Saturday when it travels to Fairfield for a 12 p.m. contest.
