Eighth Inning Run Lifts William & Mary Over Hofstra

Williamsburg, VA - Hofstra rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning. but for the second consecutive day Anthony Greco drove in what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as William & Mary picked up a 4-3 victory Saturday at Plumeri Park. The win gave the Tribe the series win ahead of Sunday's finale. 

Hofstra dropped to 10-16 overall and 2-3 in the CAA with the loss, while William & Mary is 9-17 overall and 3-2 in league play. 

The Tribe would score single runs in the second, third, and sixth innings to build a 3-0 lead. Lucas Carmichael had a solo home run for the first run, Christian Rush had an RBI single in the third, and Jamie Laskofksi added a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Hofstra would get back in the game in the seventh, loading the bases for Luke Masiuk, who delivered a two-run single. Then, following a double steal, CJ Griggs lifted a sac fly to center to tie the score. 

In the eighth, with two outs, the Tribe put runners on first and second with a single and a walk, and Greco followed with a single up the middle to drive in Owen Wilson with the go-ahead run.

Reed Interdonato (1-3), the fifth pitcher of the game for William & Mary, got the win after allowing no runs or hits in 1 ⅓ innings. Tanner Sanderoff (1-1) took the loss for Hofstra, allowing a run on three hits in 1 ⅔ innings. 

Masiuk had three of the Pride's six hits including a pair of doubles.

The teams conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m.

Notes: 
-Dylan Palmer had one hit and is one shy of recording his 200th career hit.
-Hofstra stole five bases with Tyler Cox swiping two.
-Hofstra starter Tristan Nemjo went the first 6 ⅓, allowing three runs on eight hits.
