Kent, OH - Dom Kibler homered twice and drove in seven runs in Kent State's 16-3 victory over Hofstra Friday at Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium.
Tyler Castrataro had a two-run home run in a three-run seventh inning for the Pride.
Hofstra dipped to 6-11 with the loss, while the Golden Flashes moved to 7-8 with the win.
Kibler had three-run home runs in the first and second innings as Kent State built a 16-0 lead after five innings. The Pride broke up the shutout in the seventh with
Michael Brown delivering an RBI double followed by Castrataro's fourth home run of the season.
Jackson Bauer (1-3) started for Hofstra and allowed 10 runs (8 earned) on eight hits over three innings.
Michael Heyman pitched the final three innings and allowed six runs (1 earned) on five hits.
Gavin Jones (2-0) allowed three hits over five innings to get the win.
The teams continue the series Saturday with a 3 p.m. start.
Notes:
-Brown had two hits for the Pride, extending his hitting streak to nine and his on-base streak to 16.
-This was the first meeting between Hofstra and Kent State.
-Castrataro has homered in back-to-back games.
