Hofstra Falls To Fairfield

Hempstead, NY - Dylan Palmer had two of Hofstra's eight hits on the day, but Fairfield was able to limit the Pride's scoring in a 13-2 victory Tuesday at University Field. The Stags offense was able to put up 15 hits led by Matt Bucciero's three. Hofstra slipped to 5-10 on the season with the loss, while Fairfield improved to 9-4.

The Stags were able to capitalize on a Hofstra error in the second inning to score six unearned runs and take a 6-0 lead. Bucciero had the first of his two doubles on the afternoon in the inning to drive in a pair of runs.

The Pride would get a run back courtesy of a Fairfield error in the third as Tyler Cox's infield pop up was dropped, allowing Palmer to score. Hofstra would get another run in the fifth on a Luke Masiuk sacrifice fly. That made it a 7-2 game. The Stags would add a run in the sixth and five more in the eighth to go up by 11.

Hofstra starter Tristan Nemjo (0-3) took the tough-luck loss, allowing the six unearned runs over two innings. He allowed five hits and struck out two.

Jack Sheldon (1-0) allowed an unearned run and two hits over three innings in a planned bullpen day for the Stags.

Hofstra is back in action Wednesday at FDU. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
