Four Hat Tricks For Hofstra Once Again As Pride Blows Past Wagner

Hempstead, NY - For the second consecutive game Hofstra had four players record hat tricks, led by Rory Jones' four goals, as the Pride defeated visiting Wagner, 17-5, Friday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium. Trevor Natalie, Drew Bogardus, and Anthony Mollica each had three goal-games in the Pride's home opener.

Natalie and Mollica also added assists, while John Madsen contributed two goals and two assists. The goalkeeping tandem of Shea Kennedy (7 saves, 2 GA) and Sean Henderson (6 saves, 3 GA) combined for 13 saves.

Hofstra (2-0) would break the game open early with a 7-0 run that turned a 1-1 tie early in the first quarter into an 8-1 lead midway through the second quarter. Natalie and Bogardus each had two goals in the spurt, while Madsen, Jones, and Mollica added one goal each. After the Seahawks (0-2) stopped the run on a goal from Dylan Haase, Mollica sent the Pride into the locker room with a 9-2 lead with his second goal of the game.

Wagner opened the third quarter scoring five minutes into the stanza to cut the Hofstra lead to six. However, Bogardus responded with his third goal of the contest to make it a 10-3 game with 6:14 remaining in the quarter. About four minutes later, Jones put in his third of the game for an 11-3 Hofstra lead. Haase added another goal with just under 2:00 on the clock to cap the third quarter scoring.

Natalie notched his hat trick 1:51 into the fourth quarter to give Hofstra a 12-4 advantage. Madsen, Jones, and Mollica followed with goals to grow the lead to double-digits at 15-4 with 6:35 to play. Joey DeYoung got in the goal scoring column with his third of the season with 3:55 on the clock. Wagner's James Rea scored to snap the Pride's five-goal run, though Anthony Rinaldi tacked on a goal with 37 seconds left to account for the final score.
