Pride Drops Road Contest At Stony Brook

Stony Brook, NY - Jean Aranguren had 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists but Stony Brook closed the game on an 8-0 run and defeated the Hofstra men's basketball team, 59-56, on Thursday evening at Stony Brook Arena. 

German Plotnikov (13) and Cruz Davis (11) were also in double figures for the Pride. 

Hofstra slipped to 13-17 and 5-12 in the CAA with the loss. Stony Brook improved to 7-23 and 3-14 in league action.

The Pride trailed by as many as 11 in the first half before closing the opening stanza by scoring 10 of the last 14 points in the half to close the gap to 31-26 at the break. 

Hofstra led by five on several occasions in the second half. Back-to-back buckets from Aranguren with less than five minutes to play pushed the Pride lead to 56-51 with 3:49 showing on the clock. Stony Brook rallied, though, and the game-ending 8-0 run would include a basket from Andre Snoddy with 13 seconds remaining that proved to be the game-winner. 

Plotnikov added seven rebounds in the game, while Davis dished out four assists. 

CJ Luster led Stony Brook with 19 points with Collin O'Connor adding 17 for the Seawolves. Snoddy chipped in with eight points and 13 rebounds. 

Hofstra will close the regular season on Saturday when it hosts North Carolina A&T. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m. with the senior day ceremony slated to begin at approximately 1:40 p.m. For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com. 

NOTES
- Hofstra leads the all-time series, 28-9. Stony won both regular season meetings this season. 
- Hofstra had won 58 consecutive games when holding its opponent to less than 60 points.
