Pride Cruises Past Aggies On Senior Day

Hempstead, NY - Jean Aranguren tallied 20 points, nine rebounds, and four assists to lead the Hofstra men's basketball team to a 70-49 rout of North Carolina A&T on Saturday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Cruz Davis also had a solid game for the Pride with 14 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

The win came in the Pride's regular season finale. Two of Hofstra's three seniors saw action in the game (TJ Gadsden missed the game with an injury) and Michael Graham had 11 points and six assists, while German Plotnikov added seven points and seven rebounds.

The win moved Hofstra's record to 14-17 overall and 6-12 in league play. North Carolina A&T dropped to 7-24 and 3-15 in the CAA. The 49 points allowed were the fewest since the Pride held Northeastern to 37 on January 4.

Hofstra trailed by six, 12-6, early on before using a dominating 19-4 run to take control and lead 25-16 after a basket from Plotnikov.

Leading by three at the break, the Pride would take an 11-point lead following a 6-0 scoring run that culminated with a three-point play from Davis with 10:37 showing on the clock.

The lead would only grow from there with Aranguren giving Hofstra a 20-point lead, 62-42, with 4:04 left and the Pride would cruise down the stretch in earning the home victory.

Eric Parnell chipped in with 12 points for Hofstra. It was his second double figure scoring game in the Pride's last three outings and his third this season overall.

Jahnathan Lamothe had 25 points for the Aggies, while Efstratios Kalliontzis added nine points and nine rebounds.

Hofstra will next be in action next Friday in the first round of the 2025 Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship. The full bracket, game times, and opponents will be announced later this evening.
