Natalie's Overtime Goal Lifts Hofstra Past St. John's; Bogardus Scores Seven Goals

Queens, NY - Trevor Natalie scored the game-winning goal 2:52 into overtime as Hofstra rallied for a 13-12 victory over St. John's Saturday at Belson Stadium. John Madsen had tied the game with 2:39 remaining to force overtime. Hofstra improved to 3-1 with the win, while St. John's slipped to 2-2.

Freshman Drew Bogardus led Hofstra with seven goals, while Madsen had a hat trick. Trey Parkes tallied a goal and three assists and Rory Jones notched one goal and one assist.

Hofstra fell behind 4-0 in the first quarter before getting on the board on Madsen's first goal of the game, off a feed from. Jones. The Pride outscored the Red Storm, 5-3 in the second quarter as Madsen had one goal and Bogardus added four. His last goal of the quarter tied the game at six with 1:45 to go. St. John's snapped the tie with 11 seconds left to take a one-goal lead into halftime.

The teams played an even third quarter with each side scoring three goals. Parkes and Bogardus scored back to back goals in the fourth quarter to give Hofstra its first lead of the day, 11-10, with 10 minutes remaining. The Red Storm scored two unanswered goals to take a 12-11 lead following Dan Koban's tally with 3:51 to play.

That set up Madsen, who completed his hat trick off a pass from Parkes. Then in the overtime, Hofstra goalkeeper Shea Kennedy made a key save to set up the Pride's winning possession culminating in Natalie's lone goal of the day and his eighth of the season.

Kennedy finished with 12 saves on the day, while his Red Storm counterpart Patrick Scarborough stopped 15 shots.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday, March 1 at home against Binghamton at 1 p.m.
