Pride Entertains Hawks On Academic Excellence Night

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will host Monmouth on Thursday. The game will serve as Hofstra's Academic Excellence Night and the Department of Athletics will honor the outstanding work of its student-athletes throughout the night. 

The game is being sponsored by Apple Bank and the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free Apple Bank long sleeve shirt giveaway. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

The game will air nationally on the CBS Sports Network with John Fanta and Tarik Turner on the call and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on 88.7 FM. Links to all, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra is 12-15 overall and 4-10 in league play. The Pride most recently dropped a 67-49 road game at Hampton on Saturday. Jaquan Sanders had 12 points, Jean Aranguren added 10, and Michael Graham tallied 10 rebounds and five points for the Pride. 

Monmouth is 9-18 and 7-7 in CAA action. The Hawks fell, 80-54, to Towson on Saturday. Madison Durr had nine points for Monmouth, while Cornelius Robinson III added eight points and five rebounds. 

Thursday is the 16th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Monmouth in men's basketball. The Pride leads the all-time series, 8-7. Prior to last season's win by the Hawks, the Pride had won seven consecutive meetings in the series.
