Camera Homers In Loss At No. 2 Tennessee

Knoxville, TN - Dom Camera hit his first career home run for Hofstra, but the second ranked Volunteers hit three of their own including a grand slam by Hunter Ensley in an 18-1 victory over the Pride Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Hofstra dropped to 0-2 on the season, while Tennessee improved to 2-0.

Following a scoreless first inning, Tennessee was able to load the bases in the second and scored a run on a fielder's choice and a second on a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead. The Volunteers would score another run on a fielder's choice in the third before Chris Newstrom's three-run home run later in the inning made it a 6-0 game. Levi Clark would hit a three-run home run in the fourth to extend the Tennessee lead to nine.

Camera led off the fifth with an opposite field shot to right field off reliever Michael Sharman for the first Hofstra run of the series. But that would be all the Pride would manage as the Volunteers scored four in the fifth on the grand slam and five more in the sixth to cap the scoring.

Austin Hunley (1-0), Tennessee's third pitcher, was credited with the win after pitching two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout. Starter Marcus Phillips allowed one hit over four scoreless frames.

Hofstra starter Tristan Nemjo (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits in three innings. In addition to Camera's home run, Tyler Cox had a single for his first hit of the season and first in a Hofstra uniform after transferring from West Virginia.

The teams conclude the series Sunday at 11 a.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra left seven runners on base.
-Camera was on base twice as he also drew a walk.
-Pride pitchers recorded eight strikeouts, three by Nemjo, two by Tanner Sanderoff and Danny Kelleher, and one by Trent Jenks
