Hofstra To Host No. 22/27 Wisconsin Sunday

Hempstead, NY - Following a two-week break, the Hofstra University wrestling team returns to the mat Sunday, December 7, when the Pride hosts Wisconsin at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex at 2 p.m. The Badgers enter the dual ranked No. 22 in the NWCA Coaches Poll and No. 27 by InterMat. Hofstra (1-4) last competed on November 23 at the Keystone Classic at Penn. Will Conlon (197) placed fifth at the event, while Jake Slotnick (165) took eighth. Hofstra's last dual match was November 22 at Penn. Slotnick leads the Pride with an 11-6 record. 

Wisconsin is 3-0 entering a dual against Army West Point Saturday night. The Badgers were last in action on November 25 in a 19-15 win over Bucknell. Braxton Amos' major decision at 285 pounds secured the victory for Wisconsin. The Badgers boast six wrestlers in the InterMat rankings - Nicolar Rivera (No. 9, 125 pounds), Zan Fugitt (No. 3, 133 pounds), Joseph Zargo (No. 16, 149 pounds), Luke Mechler (No. 32, 157 pounds), Cody Goebel (No. 26, 165 pounds), and Amos (No. 18, 285 pounds). 

Hofstra is 2-4 all-time against the Badgers. The teams last met during the 2021-22 season with Wisconsin posting a 38-12 victory at the Garden State Grapple.

157 - Frank Volpe vs. #32 Luke Mechler
165 - Jake Slotnick vs. #26 Cody Goebel or Matthew Jens
174 - Jurius Clark vs. Luke Condon
184 - Matthew Waddell vs. Cale Anderson or Caleb Dennee
197 - Will Conlon vs. Wyatt Ingham 
285 - Adrian Sans vs. #18 Braxton Amos or Gannon Rosenfeld

Following the match, Hofstra will again have two weeks off before returning to action at the Bucknell Quad with dual matches against Virginia, and EIWA rivals Morgan State and Bucknell.
