Cruz Davis was incredible once again with 27 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while
Preston Edmead scored all 18 of his points in the second half to lead the Hofstra men's basketball team to a huge 74-66 win over Quinnipiac in the Pride's final non-conference game of the 2025-26 campaign. The win was Hofstra's fourth straight and the Pride's seven in their last eight games.
Today's game marked the return to Hofstra for former head coach Tom Pecora, now the head coach at Quinnipiac. Pecora spent 16 years on the Hofstra sidelines, seven as an assistant coach and then nine years as the head coach.
Hofstra took as much as a seven-point lead in the opening stanza as a basket from
Biggie Patterson at the 8:03 mark made it 27-20 in favor of the Pride. Quinnipiac battled back to take a 31-29 lead with just over a minute left before intermission before
Joshua DeCady tied the score with a pair of free throws with 40 seconds left before halftime.
With the Bobcats holding a narrow 44-42 lead with just over 12 minutes left in regulation, Hofstra got back-to-back three-pointers from Edmead to take a 48-44 advantage with 11:13 to play.
It was a high-level battle down the stretch as Quinnipiac retook the lead and led 61-58 with 5:29 left. Davis took over from there and engineered a 7-0 run with five straight points to put the Pride up 65-61 with 3:17 to play.
German Plotnikov provided the dagger once again as he drained a three-pointer from the corner with 1:24 showing on the clock to push the lead to five and Hofstra would eventually put the finishing touches on an eight-point victory.
Plotnikov added 12 points and seven rebounds in the game, while Patterson totaled 11 points and five rebounds. Edmead led the Pride with four assists.
Victory Onuetu was outstanding once again with 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Keith McKnight led Quinnipiac with 19 points, while Amarri Monroe tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds.

- Today marked the fourth all-time meeting between the programs with the series now knotted at two apiece.
- Davis has scored in double figures in all 13 games this season and has tallied 20 or more points seven times.
- Onuetu has tallied double figures in rebounds in back-to-back games and for the fourth time this season.
- Edmead has tallied double figures in scoring 10 times this season, while Patterson has done it eight times, and Plotnikov six times.
- Hofstra's 21 offensive rebounds were the most for the Pride since tallying 23 against UNCW on January 7, 2012.
