Hofstra To Compete In Two Journeymen Wrestling Events This Weekend

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team will have a busy weekend in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, taking part in two Journeymen Wrestling events. On Saturday, the Pride will face Duke and Appalachian State in a pair of dual matches as part of Wranglemania at Liberty High School. On Sunday, Hofstra will compete in the Collegiate Classic at Freedom High School. Both days will stream on FloCollege. Live results and brackets can be found on FloWrestling. Hofstra will take on the Blue Devils of Duke at 11:30 a.m. followed by the the Mountaineers of Appalachian State at 1:30 p.m. The Blue Devils are 1-0 in duals this season after opening the 2025-26 campaign with a 19-18 win over Sacred Heart. The Pride, which will be wrestling in their first dual match of the season, defeated Duke, 21-12, last season at home. Hofstra opened the season at the Princeton Open and had two wrestlers - Frank Volpe and Jake Slotnick - place. 

Appalachian State enters the weekend following a successful run at the Southeast Open. The Mountaineers saw seven wrestlers place at the event. This will be Hofstra's first matchup against Appalachian State in a dual match setting. 

Sunday's Collegiate Classic will feature wrestlers from Hofstra, Lehigh, Indiana, Penn, Navy, Appalachian State, Duke, Virginia, Franklin & Marshall, LIU, Clarion, Bloomsburg, Sacred Heart, Harvard, Lock Haven, Binghamton, Columbia, Army West Point, Maryland, Rutgers, and Northern Iowa. Action gets underway at 9 a.m.

Hofstra will be back in action following the Collegiate Classic on Thursday night when it travels to Sacred Heart for a EIWA dual meet at 7 p.m. The Pride will open the home schedule Sunday at 1 p.m. versus Columbia at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
