11/26/2025 10:30:00 AM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will conclude its five consecutive games in Pennsylvania this weekend when the Pride takes part in the Cathedral Classic at The Palestra in Philadelphia.

On Friday, Hofstra will take on La Salle at 2 p.m. that game will be followed by a Saturday encounter with Merrimack at 2 p.m., and then the finale on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Penn.

All three games will air on ESPN+ with WRHU having an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to the broadcasts, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra has been off since last Wednesday when it dropped a narrow 81-76 road decision at Temple. Cruz Davis led the Pride with 25 points in the contest, while Biggie Patterson had 17 and Joshua DeCady added 13. Hofstra heads into the classic with a 2-3 overall record.

La Salle is 3-3 this season and most recently defeated Lancaster Bible, 75-46, on Saturday. Merrimack is 2-4 and dropped an 80-45 decision to #10 Florida in its last game on Friday. Penn is 3-2 and earned an 84-68 win over Drexel this past Friday.

Hofstra will open the Cathedral Classic against the Explorers of La Salle, which features three former members of the Hofstra men's basketball coaching staff - Joe Mihalich, Colin Curtin, and Shane Nichols. This will be the 22nd meeting between Hofstra and La Salle, with the Explorers leading the series, 15-6. The Pride won the last meeting, 84-80, on December 2, 2015 in Philadelphia. Interestingly enough, that win over La Salle was Coach Mihalich's 300th win as a collegiate head coach.

The Pride will face Merrimack in their second game on Saturday. This will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams, but the first since the 1977-78 season. The series is tied at 1-1.

Hofstra concludes the Cathedral Classic Sunday with a contest against the host Quakers. This will also be the third meeting between the teams and the first since December 27, 1998, when Hofstra picked up a 67-62 victory to claim the ECAC Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden. That series is also tied at 1-1.
