West Long Branch, NJ – Facing off against #13 Monmouth on Friday, the Hofstra field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Hawks from So Sweet a Cat Field on the Monmouth campus in Coastal Athletic Association action. Hofstra falls to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in the CAA, and Monmouth moves to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
The Hawks got off to a hot start with a goal 53 second into the opening quarter, and the second goal was scored within the first five minutes of the second quarter to give the hosts a 2-0 halftime lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Monmouth found the back of the net twice in the fourth to seal the win.
Luci Hollister made six stops for the Pride against the Hawks.
Hofstra's road swing concludes on Sunday, October 5, with a 1 p.m. game versus Columbia.
