Jean Aranguren had 14 points and five assists for the Hofstra men's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as Towson rallied from a double-digit first half deficit and earned a 65-60 victory over the Pride on Thursday evening at TU Arena.
Michael Graham added 12 points and seven rebounds for Hofstra.
Hofstra dropped to 10-8 and 2-3 in CAA action with the loss. Towson improved to 9-9 and 4-1 in the league.
The Pride led by as many as 18 points in the first half as they shot 70.8% (17-24) overall from the field and 6-9 (66.7%) from three-point range in the opening stanza.
Hofstra took a nine-point lead into the halftime break before Towson rallied in the second stanza for the win. The Tigers held the Pride to 19 points in the final 20 minutes and rallied while scoring 33 of their own.
TJ Gadsden chipped in with 11 points and four assists for Hofstra, while
Cruz Davis had eight points, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Tyler Tejada led Towson with 16 points. Nendah Tarke added 14 and Messiah Jones had 12 points and six rebounds for the Tigers.
Hofstra is next in action on Monday when it travels to Drexel for a special Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. matinee game at 3 p.m. The contest will air on the CBS Sports Network.
NOTES
- Hofstra now leads the all-time series with Towson, 48-31. The Pride had won two straight in the series prior to tonight.
- Aranguren scored in double figures for his team-leading 15th time this season.
- Graham led Hofstra in rebounding for his team-leading eighth time.
