Perez Sain Shines In Road Match At Virginia

Charlottesville, VA - Constanza Perez Sain posted the first double figure kills total of her career with 14 and added four digs, two service aces, and a pair of assists in the Hofstra volleyball team's four-set defeat to Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. The match was the Pride's final one at the Cavalier Classic.

Another Pride freshman, Ellie Pamatat, started the match and tallied a season-best 34 assists for the Pride.

The loss puts Hofstra's record at 2-3 this season, while Virginia improved to 4-1. Set scores were 25-14, 25-19, 17-25, and 25-22 in favor of Virginia.

Hofstra's offense was strong throughout the match, hitting .320 in the first set and .407 in the third stanza to extend the match. Virginia would win a narrow fourth set to end any hopes of a Pride rally.

Beatriz Braga added 12 kills and eight digs for Hofstra, which also got 11 kills and 18 digs from Izadora Stedile. Chiara Cucco, who has reached double figures in digs in all five matches this season, had 15 for the Pride.

Elayna Duprey had 20 kills for Virginia, which also got 21 assists and nine digs from Ashley Le.

Hofstra will now get ready for its first home match of the season on Wednesday evening when it hosts Binghamton at 6 p.m. Admission to Pride volleyball matches is free of charge. The contest will also air on FloVolleyball and WRHU (HAWC).
