Hofstra Tripped Up At Maine

Orono, ME - Teresa Karoff scored Hofstra's only goal and Pieke Roos made six saves in a 3-1 loss at Maine Friday afternoon at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex. The Pride dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss, while the Black Bears improved to 3-1.

The teams battled through a scoreless first quarter before the Black Bears were able to break through at the 11:10 mark of the second quarter. Poppy Lambert sent the stroke attempt into the upper left corner of the net, out of the reach of a diving Roos, for the 1-0 lead.

Maine extended the lead to 2-0 4:52 into the third quarter as Victoria Tinghitella notched her second goal of the year off a penalty corner with Lambert and Alexandra Sacker collecting assists. Sacker got in the goal column, with Tinghitella and Olivia Geniti assisting on the penalty corner goal, with 8:41 elapsed in the fourth quarter.
