Chiara Cucco continued her ascent up the Pride record books as the senior libero posted 12 digs in Hofstra's three-set win over Hampton to move into third place all-time in digs in program history. The match concluded a perfect weekend for the Pride from the David S. Mack Physical Education Center as Hofstra won both contests in sweeps.
Clara Bal had a match-high 16 kills in the contest to lead the way offensively.
Cucco now has 1,556 career digs and moved past Lena Malinowski, who tallied 1,545 digs from 1994 to 1998.
The win was the Pride's third straight and improved Hofstra's record to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in CAA play. Hampton fell to 0-15 and 0-4 in conference action. Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21 in favor of the Pride.
Hofstra took control of the match with a second stanza that saw the Pride hold the Lady Pirates to a negative .069 hitting percentage.
Ellie Pamatat posted 32 assists for Hofstra, while
Emilly Nunes had nine kills on 12 attempts with no errors.
Constanza Perez Sain added eight kills, six digs, and two blocks.
Madison Clark and Brooklynn Patterson each had six kills for Hampton, which also got 11 assists from Ida Wiszomirska.
Hofstra heads on the road for its next two matches as the Pride will face Campbell next Saturday and Sunday.
