Constanza Perez Sain had the best match of her young career with 17 kills, eight digs, four service aces, and two blocks to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a four-set win over Long Island rival Stony Brook on Saturday evening at Pritchard Gymnasium.
Clara Bal helped the Pride to the win as well with 14 kills and six digs in the contest.
The win moved Hofstra to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in CAA play. Stony Brook dropped to 8-3 and 1-1 in the conference. It was all Hofstra after the first set as the Pride won by set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-14.
Hofstra got better as the match progressed as the Pride won the second set with a .163 attack percentage before a spectacular .424 hitting percentage in the third set and then putting the finishing touches on the match with a .343 hitting percentage in the final stanza.
Chiara Cucco and
Izadora Stedile were tremendous defensively for the Pride with 24 and 18 digs, respectively.
Ellie Pamatat had another strong match at setter with 45 assists and 12 digs for her second double-double of the season.
Iyanna Garvin chipped in with nine kills for the Pride.
Kali Moore posted 15 kills and 10 digs for Stony Brook, which got 35 assists and 19 digs from Torri Henry.
Hofstra returns to action next Friday when it hosts Hampton at 6 p.m.

- Hofstra is now 13-4 all-time against Stony Brook.
- Perez Sain's previous season-high was 14 kills against Virginia on September 7.
- Bal has reached double figures in kills in three consecutive matches.
