Clara Bal had 16 kills and
Izadora Stedile added 13 for the Pride, but the Hofstra volleyball team dropped its CAA opener to Stony Brook in three sets at Pritchard Gymnasium on Friday evening.
Stedile added a career-high-tying 20 digs in the match.
Hofstra dropped to 4-6 and 0-1 in conference play with the loss, while Stony Brook moved to 8-2 and 1-0. Set scores were 26-24, 25-23, and 25-18.
Chiara Cucco added 19 digs for the Pride, which got 31 assists from
Ellie Pamatat.
Kali Moore led Stony Brook with 17 kills, while Quinn Anderson added 10.
These same two teams will meet up again on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. out in Stony Brook.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 12-4 all-time against Stony Brook.
- Stedile previously had 20 digs on a trio of occasions, most recently against Binghamton on September 11 of this season.
- Bal has reached double figures in kills five times this season, while Stedile has reached double figures a team-high eight times.
